By trade, I am an Automation and Electrical Controls Engineer with 30 years of engineering experience. Like the cartoon here on the right, a good Controls Engineer usually needs to know a little bit about a lot of different deciplines to get the job done.
Being very curious, I was self-taught in a lot of technical subjects when classes for them didn't exist yet. My first computer needed the operating system loaded from floppy disks, which tells you I've been around a while. I'm lucky to have had some training, experience and personal interest in several subjects such as Front and Back End Web Development, CAD systems and software, 3D printing, FPV drones, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Linux, general Cybersecurity and Penetration Testing.
If you have a curious nature, just go out and learn some new skills. You never know what might come in handy.
